<body>Some of our books/products are offered 'in affiliation with Amazon.com,' which lets you go directly from our site to Amazon's if you want to buy something. Currently, a lot of states who have budget shortfalls are attempting to make Amazon pay sales taxes in states where they have affiliates.

We don't think this will affect us, because we're located in the same state as Amazon. I can actually see a large amazon office building as I write this. It isn't likely to affect us because Amazon already pays taxes in this state, so there'd be no reason for Washington to care.

Obviously, there are a number of things that can affect this that we can't reasonably foresee, like amazon shutting down the program entirely because this gets too annoying to deal with, but it's in our opinion that providing these links is beneficial to our members and visitors and we plan to continue.</body>

<body>We recently switched from using our own internal stuff to drive blogging software to using ShareThis. Share this is one of those social networking startups that seems mostly to specialize in the relationships between other startups. As such, we're glad to take advantage of their efforts and not duplicate stuff.

You can see the sharethis code in effect on all the item detail pages, the several icons that were there before have been replaced by a share this one.</body>

<body>We're just in the process of deploying Celiaq on our release server, and we're currently going through and loading data on all the great places we've found. Last month, I took a road trip from Seattle to Austin by way of Portland, Utah, NM, and Dallas, and had a great time.

Part of what made that possible is the data that I've been collecting for this site. I look forward to sharing it with you.

Thanks,
