Gluten Free at Burning Man?

Celiacs Corprew Reed Administrator 1 post

A lot of people ask me for information about going to burning man with Celiac disease. I thought I’d open a topic for people to comment on to add to things.

What I’ve found? Well, first off there’s nothing like a digestive issue to make the advice about bringing extra 1-ply toilet tissue with you.

Second, LARA bars are awesome, but they require a lot more water to eat if you’re in the middle of a desert than they do generally. Also, tasty bites are a godsend, but not all of them are gluten free.

Other than that, I think the most important piece of information is BRING A CUP AND OTHER EATING THINGS WITH YOU. Don’t rely on other people to have cleaned anything sufficiently. I always carry a flexible cup with me when I’m at camping events so I don’t get someone’s beer leftovers in my drink. Similarly for plates and utensils, but those are harder to manage.

That’s fine for burning man, but how about things like the Oregon Country Fair? I have celiac disease and I’m going there for the first time this year. Can you ask for me?
